The most awaiting squad for the Sri Lankan series announced by the Board of control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today. The series is scheduled to start from December 10. As we all expected, Virat Kohli has been rested for the series considering the upcoming tour of South Africa.
The Rohit Sharma fans were eagerly waiting for a series where their favourite players will captain the national team for the first time. Rohit Sharma is undoubtedly one of the most successful captain in the history of IPL, so that it wouldn’t be a tough thing for him to captain the national side where he has the support of former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The young Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer once again got a chance in Indian team after his awesome performance against New Zealand in the T20I series. He will take Virat Kohli’s place in the batting order. India’s vice captain will be Ajinkya Rahane. Dinesh Karthik who had impressed most people with his exploits against the Kiwis has successfully held on to his place and so have Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav. Hardik Pandya will also make a comeback to the team after resting in the ongoing test series against Sri Lanka.
The first match of the ODI series will be played at the HCA Stadium in Dharamsala on December 10, the teams will then travel to Mohali for the 2nd ODI on December 13 and the last match of the series is slated to be hosted by the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Vizag on December 17.
