The Indian skipper has been playing a non stop cricket since IPL and he will given a month’s break to recharge his batteries. He already scored two hundreds againsT Sri Lanka in the ongoing test series and he converted his 2nd century of the series in to a double hundred. It was Virat Kohli’s 5th double hundred and equals the record of Brian Lara who scored 5 double centuries as a captain.
Virat Kohli to skip the limited overs series (3 ODIs and 3 T20 Internationals) against Sri Lanka in December. After picking the squad for the New Zealand T20I series, there were rumours about Kohli resting for the test series against SRi Lanka, but Indian chief selectors MSK Prasad denied the fake news and said Kohli has decided to play all three test matches against Sri Lanka and only after that they would think about resting him.

“There is no confusion and Kohli is available for all the three Test matches against Sri Lanka. We will look at resting him after that. He too deserves rest and the rotation policy will be applicable even for the skipper,” he said.
This is what Virat Kohli said
“Definitely I do need rest, why don’t I need rest? When I think of the time my body should be rested, I’ll ask for it. I am not a robot you can slice my skin and check I bleed,” Kohli told reporters
If Kohli opts out of the Sri Lanka series, it would be interesting to see as to who gets the captaincy role, whether the team management goes back to MS Dhoni, or gives it to current vice captain, Rohit Sharma.
The National selection committee would be announcing four squads on Monday, one for the third test against Sri Lanka, one for the ODI and T20 series against Sri Lanka, and one for the 1st Test against South Africa.
